Amazon Choral Festival

Last week, Dr. Mitchell presented workshops and ran clinics as part of the Festival Amazonas de Corais. Several schools and groups from the area participated, bringing Brazilian cultural and folk music to the stage. This group of children was especially inspiring, bringing a palpable sense of excitement to the stage. This school is going through transition and the choir was temporary, only established for the purpose of this festival and then it no longer has support to continue. We are working to obtain support for a program that will include this school in an ongoing collaborative arts project in Manaus so that we can help ensure that they continue to have music opportunities and can continue to flourish!
