The word "home" means different things to different people. For many, home is the warm and cozy place one shares with family: where warm meals are eaten, funny jokes told and retold, where joy and peace are plentiful (though perhaps with a side of bickering). But for others, "home" is transient. Think of the families fleeing danger in Central America to find a safer place to live and work, or the children being starved by governmental conflict in Venezuela, or orphaned and foster children within our own communities. For these children, "home" is a gift--sometimes a gift we can help to give. It is a sense of belonging, of acceptance, of friendship and hope.

The One World Children's Foundation is committed to helping every child feel that they are wanted and loved in this world. One of the ways we share this sense of hope and belonging is through our music. Our project in Mexico last year allowed us to work with children in the Reino De Los Niños orphanage, teaching and sharing music with them, and connecting children with children across cultural and language barriers. Just as their kindness and courtesy made us feel at home in a country where none of us could speak Spanish as well as they could, we hope we made them feel that music and love are powerful forces that can make any of us feel more at home wherever we are.

This year we are looking forward to carrying out two similar projects in Ensenada and in Tecate, Mexico. You can be a part of these projects, either by joining us as a Music Ambassador, or by making a contribution to their success.

Settle down, it'll all be clear Don't pay no mind to the demons They fill you with fear The trouble it might drag you down If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you’re not alone 'Cause I’m going to make this place your home
